Happy Australia Day Steve Robinson--January 26th

I was waiting for John Cooper, Emile Smith, or Jim Clubb to wish Steve a happy Australia Day first. I guess they are not going to so I will take the lead. I gotta ask Steve, because it sure doesn't make sense. In the Colonies we celebrate the day we kicked the Poms ass back across the Mackerel pond, you blokes raise a glass to the day the Queen dropped anchor in your harbor. What's up with that? Your not still worried their going to come back, are you?

Come back?? They never left!!!

So we imported more rejects from other countries to dilute the Pommy influence a bit.

The date got a bit of a work out this year. The aboriginal community call it "Invasion Day" and want the date changed to a date of their choosing. One of our local TV stations has run a poll all week and just declared the outcome - 91% of Aussies say leave the date as is.

We've never got as excited about it as you blokes get about Thanksgiving but in the last few years it has been really noticeable that more people are flying the flag and demonstrating their patriotism. Can't be a bad thing.

Maybe we did so privately, without making a fuss about it.

Steve,
Are you kidding me!!! You out voted the Aborigine 91 to 9!!! That had to be a landmark occurrence in Australian poll taking.
The Aboriginal community could have an "Invasion Day" a week and just barely cover them in a year. LOL Patch them with a Casino, that usually squares the beef.

John,
I stand corrected. That may explain the extra mug's of Lager at the HalfPenny Hatch Pub. What might have been interpreted as "carried away" was actually an advance salute to your Aussie mates. LOL
