Yhank you for the video Wade. I see that my interpertation of the technique of picking up the rein in the outside hand and transfering it to the inside is what this gentleman does.
What I don't see is how this "La Poste" differs from a Courior of St. Petersburg presentation as this one only uses six additional horses for a total of eight.
It is a skillful presentation and exciting to watch but I'm now convinced that Courrior and La Poste are the same thing with just different language names much as some refer to a an aerial hoop, a lyra, or le circu or tisu, tissue, silks, or fabric.
No, I've only watched the video once and haven't examined the harness and such closely so I don't have anything to say there.

Warren,
The only thing I noticed odd was the big ring hand holds, and the slackness of the lines on the last horses. I was worried they would step into them. The Gruss, Knie ones with a larger number of horses at the opposite side of the ring from the team horses with lines taut seem nicer looking then pairs in front. Looking at the shape and size of this format, you can sure see the advantage of working a liberty act.

Courier and La Poste are the same thing. If you consider the meaning, in each case you have a messenger delivering a message.

John,
That makes sense. I never considered the similar meaning's of the words.

Wade, I guess the big hand holds make the transfer from hand to hand easier - have to go back and look to see if something similar is used in the origingal La Poste video shows the same. I did notice the slack in the reins and that bothered me as well but I also have to go back to the other videos to see if the same situation occurs. It does appear that briefly Msr. Bouglione does have a small problem with this.
Not being an expert, I seem to recall that Katajia Schumman's presentation kept the lead horses tighter to the pair with the assistance of the person assisting from the center of the ring and the reins being let out as additional space was required. But my memory is fuzzy and I'm not sure. Also, Msr. Bouglione is driving very fast as to what I remember. Perhaps this is also an issue.
I also notice that he picks up the rein from the first horse to pass under with his inside (left) hand. The others go into the right hand then transfer into the left but he seems to have little control of the horses, depending entirely on the director in the center to pace the extra horses and place them given the large slack in the reins as you noted.
This blog and the videos are going to force me to buy a much more powerfu computer and a high resolution monitor to see all the details you folks pick up so easilly. I did do okay with the horse in the stall but missed the bungie quick release.

Trudy & I saw Maude Gruss do this act in the Krone building, I believe the Winter of 2000-20001 and as I remember there were sixteen horses, running like the wind, and it scared me to death. Any mishap would have been disasturous!
