Alejandro Barrionuevo--Passion

Madame Col. Look at what the bay horse does at 340 in the clip above. Remember when I suggested 3 years ago that Onyx could be taken up the steps, through the door at the back of the stage, in smoke and fire and do a rhythmic piaffe in long lines 4 foot in the air, and everybody told me it was not possible, and not to waste my time? You cripple yourself "artistically" if you aren't surrounded by creative, innovative individuals, willing to take a chance and push the envelope to greater heights. At 400 note the suspension and forward movement of the piaffe and passage. If that does not make you gasp and catch your breath, you died a long time ago.

Tiger Man, if you remember it wasn't the feat I was objecting to but that you were going to train this so that a barn hand would be eventually at the helm. You and I both know that there was no way the quote "producer" would understand the technical involvement to keep the horse from falling off the stage.

As to the video you sent, I am sure he is very entertaining but I am sorely tired of seeing all these video's posted in slow-motion. If you notice his Piaffe and passage are the speed of Chewy's in real time so that tells me the tempo is not there and it looks better than it is because of the editing. Show it to me in real time and if it's that good, I'll bow to his technique.

Now to his stage, even I would take Chewy up there, it was huge and nothing like the stage you were training for. What he did was easy, just took props what you wanted to do was much harder and you got part way there though my unbelieving eyes. I am sure you would have achieved it but frankly I am glad you weren't able to go forward as my heart would have gone out to a poor innocent Onyx who would be by now handled by everyone professing to be a horseman. Before pushing the envelope I think one has to think of the final out come of difficult and possibly dangerous involvement. I always new my horses would stay in my hands so I could do tings I wouldn't normally do for someone else.

Again the passage and Piaffe, sorry to say, were never shown in true speed so I know you would never see the beauty you are seeing. It's like seeing a horse run free his mane and tail flying, slow it down and it is a vision.

Sorry Wade I must be dead.

Horse Bitch,
And I say that with the greatest respect. LOL That wasn't your shoe to put on. Yes, you expressed concern at the skill level that would be attempting it, but you could at least see the potential. I am talking about the ones, that wanted to know why he couldn't just give you a nuzzle 0 death, which supposedly the folks love more then actual behaviors.
The most devastating heart breaking thing for me as an animal trainer is to witness an animal never reaching it's full potential, or to lose what it is capable of doing. I can't be expected to train what a chimp is capable of presenting. There is not enough money in the world for that waste of time and disrespect for an animal. If it suffers at the hand's of the unqualified, for that my heart also breaks, but at least they were given the opportunity, how ever brief to be something of greatness or special talent. And in justifying for my self over the years, I have consoled myself, by convincing myself, it is out of my hands by that time and I am there for not responsible. A treat that has never happened or been offered would be to actually chose who you wanted to teach how to work the animal/animals. Ultimately, I don't decide who will be allowed to destroy the animal I have devoted a part of my life to. Because someone manufactures bullets, doesn't mean they pulled the trigger.
One of the first things my inexperienced eye noted in watching Fire Magic perform passage was the moment of suspension, weightlessness, and illusion of "floating on air." I did not realize you could replicate that suspension with slow motion video. If I had, I would have surly videoed Satin, and tried to fool folks that she was one of those Neapolitan deals from Vienna.
I think the whole show it's self, from an artistic point of view is far superior to the running free, mane's flowing, mythical love fluff, that Cavalia came out with a few years ago. That's what I was referencing about taking your breath away.
Now I have to do one of those circus deals, and ask somebody else what they thought, in hopes they will confirm/tell me what I want to hear.

Mary Ann,
What did you think of the suspension in the piaffe and passage? Was it fabulous or what?

Yes Wade, I thought that the suspension in the piaffe and passage was fabulous! However, everyone here knows that all I know about horses is what I have learned on this blog. LOL

Mary Ann,
That's why I asked you, plus Casey is busy right now. I know how those show biz spin deals work. The next thing for me to do is say that "Madame Col. is full of road apples and doesn't know squat about piaffes and passages, because Mary Ann By God Howell agreed with me about the suspension." LOL You are learning all about show biz Mary Ann, not just the published portions.

Dianne,
"Gang up!!!" You want to talk about "gang up?" I can tell you about "gang up." Helpless? You could school some of our "cute and charmers" on what doing on your own truly is.
