WHAT!!!!!!! Does anybody know anything about this? Plans can sure change. Elaine is now Mrs. Alex Laceey

Sunday Mirror--August 3, 1997 by Declan White

Ireland's high-flying circus queen Elaine Courtney has dropped a bombshell... by announcing she is giving up her daring Big Top act.

Audiences gasp at the acrobatic skills and death-defying neck spins of the glamorous solo trapeze artiste.
Now, after 23 years of thrilling crowds around the world, Elaine is launching herself into a career change...she wants to be an actress.
"I used to love what I am doing, but my heart is not in it any more," she told me.
Elaine, who was once an item with OTT pop sensation Alan Fitzsimons, has been performing in the circus since she was six.

She spent seven years touring America, Canada and Asia where she was treated as a major star and driven to performances in a stretch- limo. She returned to Ireland to her family's American-style circus three years ago. But the turning point came last Christmas when she caught the acting bug, playing the Sleeping Beauty in panto at Dublin's Point Theatre.Elaine said: "This is my last year in the circus. Come Christmas I'll stop performing in the Big Top."Now I am going to become an actress. People say I am crazy to leave after developing my own act but my heart is on the stage. My great-grandmother Annie Hudson was a silent movie star, so acting is in my blood."It has been a shock to my family that I am leaving, but they know I must go where my heart has gone."I was on a high in panto at The Point and I want to experience that again."I'm in discussions about doing another pantomime and I'd love to act in plays and movies after this circus season finishes in November."

Seems like some "misunderstanding". The "news" are from 1997. From what I understand is that Mrs. Courtney and Mr. Lacey will be again with Charles Knie in 2009.

Marco,
As John Cooper is always so kind as to correct me, It isn't Mrs. Courtney. LOL I realized it was an old article. It was before she was with Alex, and that was the point about how your plans change.

Indeed, it's an old article, and I submit that it's no more than hype.

Hype for what?
