I am sure most circus folks who have been down around the Hugo Okla. or Sarasota, Fla. area in the winter months knows what a place like this is called. But for folks not in the circus, I will explain. It is where we go at the end of a long and hectic season to rest, train new animals, and prepare for the new circus tour in the Spring. It is called a "winter quarters" or in England it is called a "circus yard."

Technically it is not a winterquarter, even though it is close to the actual KNIE winter quarter buildings. It is a small zoo with an emphasis on attractions for children. Last time I went there they still had a dolphin show which is now the sea lion show. Nice, but small park located in a pretty region.
Marco,
In Knies case, technically I think it is a winter quarters. If a circus has a trailer manufacturing operation or some other business "on their property" that stays in operation, "on their property" after the circus leaves, it is technically a winter quarters.
