Amy asked why polar bears aren't used anymore in the circus? Does this answer your question, Amy. It has been suggested that America has a poor husbandry system by using rolling cages instead of the much better "beast wagons." For you Americans who don't know, what you are looking at are "beast wagons." We use rolling cages, with additional cage's added after the performance, because we often times work in something other then a tent and need to maneuver in the confines of a building. In cold weather/winter time, the animals are housed inside in the warmth. In cold weather/winter time how are the animals housed in uninsulated "beast wagon?" The door's are shut, and hay/straw is added.

In reference to being an unfortunate "soft target" and the usage of old footage, does anybody know when this was filmed???

Looks like a mix of different circuses and even years (90's). The comments are in Dutch.
Marco,
It may be the mid to late 90's. That was a quick shot of Trudy Strong when she was in Europe. Were the beast wagons and Polar bears, Gerd Semonite's? That is the unfortuanate thing about some species of animals. No matter how adequate the facilities or how great the trainer is, they are going to do dumb thing's like the Polar bears that are going to give people the wrong impression of the profession and the individual. But the Chimpanzee, the Baboons, and the elephant in the truck with the goats doesn't give any wrong impression. That's just a fact.
