For Rebecca

It's not comedy, because there is nothing funny about it. It is a bona fide European "circus." We just lack the "class and sophistication" that Dominic Jando pointed out we don't have, to fully appreciate it, that's all.

Rebecca,
Maybe I am not understanding the purpose of degrading a circus performance/performer. To dress in drag with homosexual overtones for an AID's benefit is lost on me. I don't think they aided anything, but what they did do was advocate. Borders on spending funds to give addicts new clean syringes, so that they don't have to share or reuse, in an effort to combat AID's caused by that practice. The compassionate human in myself can accept funding to get them off the junk, but not funding to keep it going in a healthier environment. And I don't think AID's is something to be made light of by giving a "tongue in cheek" special show. Donate funds from a regular performance, that's noble. But this type of spectacle does not belong in an industry "for children of all ages."

a) I was not degrading anything, I was not impressed by the whole visual.
b)I did not know this was a special show for an elite and special and adult audience.
c)I thought it was about the animals and what they did.Costumes are part of the whole package BUT not to the point of distraction.you agree?

Rebecca,
I did not insinuate that you were degrading anything. I am sorry if you thought I was. They (the show) have degraded all of the Circus profession. And it was not just for an "elite and special and adult audience". My God, far from it. It was open to anybody who wanted to attend, men, women, children, dog's and cat's, etc. and of course members of the Gay community. I mentioned Circus Vargas doing benefits of this sort, but they were the regular show, and no degrading of costumes were asked or insisted on. Some of the "outlandish" costumes were in the seats.
And I don't agree about distracting costumes. You coming out in a bikini is going to distract from anything. Tigers, dogs, elephants, trapeze, rings, silks, etc. etc.
