Night of the Horse 2008--Steffen Peters Freestyle

Let's hope "National Velvet" and her trick horse Dolly below, didn't have to follow this horse. Madame Col. I like the canter into a piaffe. Is that a recognized movement or something done in freestyle. It is similar to a rundown into a sliding stop in reining.

Dianne,
Or do they call that a hand gallop instead of a canter. It looks like a hand gallop in Arabian English Pleasure.

That would be called an extended cantor and again he tried or the degree of difficulty but it didn't work in my eyes. The halt was rough and transition not good but he may have gooten points for ir anyway. The horse is besutiful and like you said a gorgeod trot and absolutely picture book piaffe for a warmblood. Passage? not so good and back to the "pull me" instead of "push me" which designs the greta and correct passage, trust me this horse could have done it easily. Passage beginning from the front instaed of the rear seems to be acritical element in the Dressage world. This is fact and not my ego talking. Soon as I finish change of leads on one tempe on Fire Magic I am going to give this competition a go to see how they judge a correct "half show horse and half Dressage horse". Should be interesting, for sure it will be talked about.

Dianne,
Thank you. I too noted the bounce just before the piaffe, but was afraid if I pointed it out, it may have been acceptable, and I would have looked like a moron. I am not like a lot of idiots, I am fully aware of who I am addressing. LOL
I'll bet it is breathtaking, without a stop, and from an extended canter, bang right into a piaffe, canter pirouette left, canter pirouette right, piaffe to an extended canter.
As for Fire Magic, the judges may be taken aback at the ground shaking as he enters, being a little earthquake shy on the west coast. LOL
