A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Wade, Amy,
Joe and I went to both PD Zoo in Tacoma and Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle in 2001 (Lara was still living in Olympia, and we flew in and out of SeaTac). When we went to Woodland Park, we were very excited because they were introducing Rakata and JoJo (Sumatran tigers) for breeding. JoJo was in the outside exhibit, Rakata was in the indoor holding area, and the door in between was left open. However, Rakata failed to make an appearance. I understand that they have had cubs in 2002, 2004, and 2006. The female born in 2002 is the breeding female at PD Zoo, so she didn't go far from home. The female born in 2006 in Seattle is still there with her parents.
