A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Good joke there.
The story Iv heard:
One of the circus family Philadelphia took this asian elephant to north sweden in february, dont know which year.
The tour went upto a place called Ström, situated 64° degrees north, with bewteen -12° and -20° celcius, and the elephant and trainers were covered in raindeer skins.
One of the Phildalephia family was Hugo Schmitts teacher, and they were also ancestors to Karl Krone.
Dan,
Great great story. Thank you for sharing. I would have hated to have the job of trying to keep the "ear muffs" on the elephant. I can only assume it was a job where you didn't get much sleep.
