A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Could be wrong, and not at all certain of the spelling, but I think it's Niklaus Muntwyler who is Swiss and has connections with Circus Monti in Switzerland.
John.
John,
Thank you, mate. Is Circus Monti a new show? I don't believe I have heard much about it.
Wade
John,
Yes you are right this is Niklaus Muntwyler brother of Johannes Muntwyler owner of the Swiss Circus Monti. A nice midsize show with beautiful equipment. Niklaus left the circus with his horses a few years ago. It's a modern show with young performers from circus schools. No exotics animals.
Wade, Monti was founded in March 1985.
Vincent
Thank you, Vincent.
Apparently Fredy Knie Jr has stated that he regards Monti as the second best circus in Switzerland. I leave you to guess the best!
John.
John,
I guess Ringling?
Vincent, Why did he leave with the horses? Is he on another show with them? Any word on an elephant dying on Charles Knie?
I think he has a liberty horse training school or something like that. He left because large animals don't fit in the Monti productions anymore.
Don't know about Charles Knie Elephant. Will go there 09/05/2008.
Vincent
Vincent,
Thank you. I hope Tom Wilds doesn't hear about horses not fitting into the production of the "second" best show in Europe.

Now, compare this to the Euro opinion of circus, where they gladly pay good money to see a proper performance.
Perhaps, the buildings are part of the problem. They certainly are convenient and cushy (heated & cooled). I've worked in buildings. Never felt right. The audience is to far away. Ya can't beat standing on the ring curb and looking at them in the eye and saying 'what are you laughin at!' I grew up with the audience right there. They were right there when I owned my own show. That is how circus should be! Any thing else is to prostitute it
