Question for Col. Herriott on creative hitches

What in the world is the "hind team?" Is that the wheel team? And how do you step them over the "pulling cable" so they can yank the leaders in the right direction?

Wade, I can only guess but this seems very similar to the Borax 20 mule team. When going straight it was 1 team but around corners 6 mules (3 pairs) in the middle of the group would jump the cable on command and pull at a 45 to 60 degree angle and then side step to make sure all three wagons made it around without binding. The six would be considered it's own team, and the first four are not attached to the center cable. There were no center hitching poles only single and double trees. The hostler rode the nigh wheeler and was connected to the front team by a stringline but the "hind team" took commands. There are some photos of it online.

Joey,
Thank you for the detailed information. I has having a hard time taking the direction away from one end, and giving it to the other.
