A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

This is the Apelt Ranch. Mr. Apelt invented the "armadillo basket" which became fashionable. They supplied armadillos to zoos as well as research facilities until the ranch closed in the early 70's. At it's peak they shipped out 20,000 armadillos or shells a year. The family still owns a campground in Comfort and a few armadillos. I have shown the lot across the street with two different circuses as well as played music in one of the bars in town.
Casey,
What do you mean "invented". I think he just used it for a different purpose then what it was originally intended for. Speaking of bars you have played music in, would those be the same as the one's you fell off the bar stool in, or were those different ones. LOL
Be safe,
Wade
Wade, we didn't know until Mike took us on a behind-the-scenes tour of the nocturnal building, that these are mammals.
