Hi Wade: What about Professor George Keller? I never saw his act, but he supposedly entered the cage wearing only white gloves that he used to cue his mixed cat act and did not have whips, clubs or sticks of any kind in the cage. Maybe some of your bloggers actually saw the act and can comment...
Neil Cockerline
A couple of day's ago dedicated CFA Neil Cockerline ask myself the above question. As I have stated in the past our "History" depends on who you are asking, and what they remember or how qualified they are to answer. I posted a video and somebody thoughts to a picture. Below are comments from the "History Channel" that took place January 9, 2007:
He would wear a gun belt into the arena and snap the whip a few times. Then, with great fanfare, he would hand over the gun and whip to his assistant an put on white gloves. With his white gloves and special wide-eyed whammy he'd control a cage full of jungle killers. Wasn't a big act as I recall; 2 lions, a tiger, 2 pumas, and a leopard or two -- don't recall the cheetah but we're talking 50 some years ago.
Nobody recalls a Black Jaguar either apparently. Maybe it was no good, maybe it died, maybe something killed it. Who know. Does the leopard below look like it has been handled with only kid gloves and gentleness? Some body tell me what are the facts, so I can relay them to Neil.
