A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Mario Masson with the French Cirque Maximum.

Mario is the boss of Maximum (not to be confused with the Swedish circus of the same name). I believe it's gone bankrupt, but could be wrong.
John.
John and Vincent,
How do so many shows get the same names. I realize the distance is not great between countries but it would seem to be very confusing. Example, Cirque Knie, Cirque Charles Knie, and I understand Cirque Louie Knie. Cirque Medrano Raul Gilbault Cirque Medrano Casartelli.
I have started to use this system, Cirque Brilliant Krone and Cirque Bullshit Krone to tell them apart. LOL

Louis Knie is cousin to Fredy Jr and Rolf Jr, and brother to Franco. Charles Knie's mother was cousin to Fredy Sr and Rolf Sr.
The French Cirque Medrano uses the name with the blessing of the late Jerome Medrano who ran the Parisian circus building that bore his name - and you're forgetting the Swiss Circus Medrano!
John.
And don't forget the Circuses Zavatta in France. i think they are more than 20 at the moment (no joke)! Some shows use names like Knie or Medrano or Amar because of what they represent to people. It's like "the names you can trust". For exemple, the name Amar is owned by Firmin Bouglione and he leases the name to the Falk Family who runs the Cirque Amar in France. You attract a lot of people with a famous name.
Vincent
