A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

This is part of the group that ended up on Ringling presented by Larry Allen Dean
Darryl,
How are you doing, friend. Thank you for the info. I thought I recognized the barrel, but I wasn't sure.
Stay safe,
Wade
Addendum to Darryl,
The costume looks reminiscent of the style Luis Palacio wore for the mixed act.

I wonder if this shot is from Blackpool Tower Circus (certainly looks like it), the year that Palacio was attacked during performance, and Jim showed a modified act for a while.
John.
John,
That may explain the costume. There was a silver blue "dress" that was used by two different blonde's in the mixed bear act, commonly referred to as the Polar Bear Act. One assisted with the act for one year, and one assisted with the act for 3 years, and most assume it was the same person for 4 years.
Hawthorn has historically recycled costumes, and I personally think it is the "highest form of disrespect, for an Artist." The beautiful Don Foote designed, JoAnn Pinson/Trudy Strong built costumes that were made for me on Ringling, later had the gold and silver lame stars covered with tiger striped material and were used over in Europe.
