A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Cathy's act had the grapevine/weave you mentioned in an earlier post. Who trained her act?
Ian
Thanks for the wonderful liberty horse act photos. sigela@citromail.hu
Ian,
I believe she and her father did. I know she trained the grapevine, because she called me when she signed the Ringling contract and asked for advice on how to train it. It was a pretty act with nice Polish horses, and the bay color hadn't been used for many years.

When she was on Ringling as the horses did the grapevine Cathy sung. It was a song written for the moment and it was great. It was like watching a scene from a movie.

It's amazing how something little, or small can make something nice a powerhouse. It reminds me kinda of a cat today riding around on a mirrored ball while the trainer sits astride them. You needed to see Charly Baumanns 3 cats sitting up, and not only going around, but pistoning up and down to appreciate what a magnificent thing a mirrored ball can really be.

when was this picture taken?
