Note the polar bears in the above photo, still pacing at the side barrier, thinking they have a better chance at freedom by going through all the various bears and side barriers, out the other end, then through the front and the public.
We can only speculate on what they were thinking, with the "natural exhibit enhancement" of the stream splitting around the rock.
