In the center of the above picture it looks like a policeman, and 3 "casual" plain clothesmen.
The sign on the right by the trees says, NOTICE Bicycles not allowed on this walk. Beware of pickpockets and bicycle thief's. Gotta love old Chicago.
On the back of this picture it states, "One of Lincoln Parks happy inhabitants" I wonder if they asked the leopard.

The buiding was the Small Mammal House in the 1950s and 60s (and winter home for the elephant). As to the sign: On busy holidays and Sundays as an announcer for the St. Louis Zoo chimp show in 1966 and 67 I was to remind the audience to be aware of pick pockets.
(A few years later we started selling tickets to the shows and got the money up front.)
Jim A,
LOL. Am I to assume the policy of selling tickets, was initiated because the shows were late starting, because you had to wait for your "associates" to get back to the show building and into costume?
