A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Wade, when Joe and I visited PD Zoo in 2001, they had a pair of clouded leopards, Raja and Josie, that had been raised together since they were very young. Raja was in the cat show, and while he was out, Josie cried for him. They have had much success in breeding this pair.

Mary Ann,
With all due respect, and I love ya, but she wasn't crying for Raja per se. She was uncomfortable being alone with out the cage mate she was compatible/comfortable with. Had she been raised with a big old ugly Shar Pei, she would have cried when he left. If he left forever, with in a short time after becoming comfortable living alone, If she could talk she would say, "Raja who"? I hope you and Joe are safe and having a good time.
