I have had at least a dozen Directors tell me in confidence that when this Gorilla building was build it was voted by the profession as the "Ugliest Zoo Structure ever created". It got such heat even in the local press that I understand the architect committed suicide.

I like the design. I think it looks very new age. Sort of bringing the zoo to the 21st century. :)
I read about this one-that despite it's appearance it did'nt provide much functional space for the residents, but I agree with the sorceror's apprentice that it's quite aesthetic. Even if it had been an ugly building I would hope that the architect did'nt actually commit suicide. The zoo did'nt have to accept the plan. I felt like the gorillas in Washington DC were exhibited in what felt like an ant farm. They could'nt really get away from the public if they wanted to. A young gorilla punched the glass right where my face was. I got the message. It's rude to stare. The other gorillas looked nervous and miserable. Maybe that's why that zoo had so little breeding success. Toronto Zoo was much better-for the gorillas at least.
Paul,
Bud likes Darth Vadar, and passes himself of as a ripped body builder when the need arises you, please don't validate him. In the animal "biz" when and idea goes south, it is passed around quicker then a hot potato. If it is a success, people climb over you to take credit. It is like a sore thumb, as nothing else in the zoo architecture wise is remotely similar. And the poor gorillas. Small little floor space, with a thousand miles over head that they don't have access to. I suggest the gorilla was whacking the glass just to see you jump, not necessarily to stop you from staring. LOL

I was merely commenting on the aesthetics of the building. I have never been there, nor have I ever seen the actual habitat itself. I just like the way the outside looks.
Bud,
Yeah right. Next you are going to try to convince me that people actually thought you are Arnold Schwatenager!!!!
Wade
Nope nope, even I wouldn't go that far. I may masquarade as the Terminator, poorly I might add, but as Arni... never. My body has never looked like that and probably will never.
