Recently there was a wonderful dialoge on Buckles Blog that I participated in. There is noting more stimulating or educational then debating learned gentlemen on a subject that is very dear to me, the breeding/training of animals. Any animal, big or small. The debate ran into over 50 comment's and was reported to me in many emails as one of the best most enjoyable, educational things they had read on the subject of white tigers. A few day's later when read went back to reference it, it had evaporated. As many posts have in the past. It was pointed out to me, I checked and sure enough, it was gone. Each time it happens everybody asks why, but the blog wizard doesn't feel he need's to justify. The followers just say, "it's his blog, he can do what he want's". I disagree strongly, as I feel it is OUR history not his, to write his way.
A well meaning CFA, one of the greatest in the world, copied the thread by hand to send to a friend who has no computer, he enjoyed it so much. He then sent a copy by email to over 30 friends, myself included, and many zoo professionals.
When I received my email, and read his work I was shocked, stunned, angry, upset, hurt, take you pick, when I realized he had "edited" it. When I contacted him about it, he said one of the recipients of his email was a friend of one of the individuals, and he didn't want to offend him. WITH MY WORDS AND STATEMENT. I pointed out the the individual in the comment was my friend, as well as the individual he sent the email to, as well as him. But what he didn't consider was that the tiger had also been my friend. A tightrope we walk daily is what do we hid or what do we proclaim. My thinking is if we hide something, we are admitting there is a problem. Who get's protected. My friend, your friend, their friend, all friends? Fans and animal trainers have to address, Why so much heat on us? Maybe not for all the ideas you might suggest?
Below is this "well meaning lover of the circus, fighting legislation daily, individuals email." Tomorrow I will post his "edit". You see I had a feeling the post would disappear, as others have and I marked it to my favorites. Many historical ones have been evaporate forever, and I regret not making them. When do we address the problems, so the public loves us like they did before?
