A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

The North American Regional Studbook for the Asian Elephants only lists one elephant in the 1930 time frame at Los Angeles, 'Anna Mae' (T2104) born ~1902, arriving ~1920 and dead 08/23/1939. This is surely no 26 year old elephant :) Numerous others arrived during the mid-1930s.
Wade, what do you think about this Los Angeles elephant ride picture taken in the 1980s?
