A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

This photo was included in the Carl Althoff programme. I always suspected that it was a "fake" photo. If you look closely, you will see that a number of the bears appear to be "cutouts" and superimposed on the original photo. The bear far right is certainly a cutout image. Some of the seated bears in the foreground don't appear to be in the correct scale.
John,
It is definitely doctored. I think a lot more of that was done in the "old" day's then is given credit. I think they would advertize a certain number of animals, when there was a lot of shifting out and in. There may have been X number of animals in the act, but possibly not in the cage at the same time.
