A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

I am a bit amazed at the 'thin' flying return act. All basic, before the good stuff, tricks.
Amazed because Mexico has spawned many, many great trapeze folks.
I will admit they are better than myself. My pot belly keeps getting in the way.
Dennis,
They are from Brazil, the Flying Mila's. Just before they came to the show in Nov. the father, who is the normal catcher, as I understand it dislocated his shoulder. The son who normally flies with his sister and I a told does a number of trick's has substituted for the injured father.

Tough break alright, but patrons don't know all this, same as me, and will be disappointed.
You probably explained at the beginning (when you first went to Mexico this time),about the show title but I can't find it in the manure pile. Why both family names? Is it a partnership or are the Atayde folks just lending their good name?
Dennis,
You have been out of the circus so long you don't recognize the difference between an explanation and an alibi? Geez..... "Disappointed!!!!" Are you kidding me, pal? Take another good look at those girls from behind. I was as "disappointed" as a hog in shit watching the act while it was here. It used to be a footrace between young Joseph Garner and myself to see who could get to the back side of the seats first to watch the act to the greatest advantage. Feets across looked like a quad to me. :)

Addendum to Dennis,
Sorry, I was so busy chastising your eye's, I didn't answer your question.
Actually, both names aren't used. Just Atayde is used. I use the other name, so as not to cause confusion. The Aguilar's are dear and respected friends of THE Atayde family, and that withstanding, as nothing is free in the circus, "rent" the name Atayde for their circus. I have never been convinced that "name recognition" is as big a deal in the circus, exception being Ringling Bros., as a lot of folks like Cole Bros. when they used Clyde Beatty, Barnes or Toby Tyler seem to think it is. Come on, you are not Warner Bros., MGM, Disney, NFL, or ESPN. For God's sake, you are circus.

No, no, Mr.Wade
I am spot on as the Brits would say. They have their butts hanging out (woman in the flying act) to distract from the lack, at the time, of a serious flying performance.
Your description of the view you had did however have me literally LOL. There are some things you just can't see in N.D.
Dennis,
Buffalo roaming and deer and the antelope playing is what you see in North Dakota.
Simply, the butt's were out because they were gorgeous butt's and gorgeous butt's deserve to be displayed properly in a gorgeous manner. Case closed, as John Milton would say. Nothing at all to do with patching a poor act.
