A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

I'm pretty sure those are the Eddie Kuhn cages.

1959 Cristiani Bros. Circus. Eddie Kuhn's act, possibly Charlene Kuhn.
Jerry,
Did Charlene work the act, or why would she have a robe on?
Wade
Bob,
There was a point where cages got smaller and smaller in an effort to transport them. That is wrong, real wrong and never should have happened. Instead of getting more trucks and trailers to haul bigger acts, existing cages were split in half or 4's and twice a many were hauled in the same size transport. Historically, you can watch the cages photographically get smaller and smaller.
Wade
Wade,
I believe Charlene only worked outside of the cage as an assistant. She and her daughter Jeanne did work in other aspects of the show, which might explain the robe.
