I was aware of it, and I think it is a good idea given the nitwits who are allowed to go into the pet store and buy a snake, soon growing tired of it, or carelessly letting it get loose in a climate conducive to it's survival. We don't need any more non native species wrecking havoc on native species and habitat.

I currently own a half dozen large Burmese Pythons that I take to state fairs and exhibit in my snake show. I've been doing this for about 20 yrs now and it is a large portion of my livelyhood.If the feds won't grant me interstate travel I'm sunk. As for the nitwits, don't worry, they'll find something else to screw things up with.

Don't you wish the nitwits had been regulated out long ago. I look at the recent "discussions" on transportation of animals and think of the rag bags that used to stuff a dozen animals in a truck, along with props, tents, and a bobcat if there was room. The first year(1976) I worked for Hawthorn they hauled 8 tigers and two elephants in a horse trailer. The Baraboo Circus World truck was a real Noah's Ark. Self regulation goes a long way towards avoiding getting it stuffed down your throat.

Over the years I've seen a lot of morons with stinky cages.
I've also seen plenty who work their asses off looking after their animals properly.
I've got no problem with getting rid of the bad apples, but to lose the good ones as a result would be unfair to man and beast alike.
Our USDA inspector showed up one day (surprise inspection) with her supervisor in tow, he took a look at our capy tubs and started taking cellphone pictures.I thought something was wrong but he said that he seldom sees clean capybara water and wanted pictures so he could prove it's possible. I felt ashamed for my industry that a simple thing like clean water stood out as an oddity.

I have felt that same embarrassment and ashamed feeling myself. A lot of venom is directed at anyone who isn't "with it and for it," and point's out what shouldn't be. There are inductees in the ring of fame that were notorious offenders and folk's wonder why we get picked on. Go figure......
