John Cuneo

The Hawthorn Mellody Farm used to breed and show some of the finest saddlebreds in the United States, winning many top awards in shows as far away as Madison Square Garden. The horse above that a young John Cuneo is mounted on looks like one of those award winning saddlebreds. Note the "checkerboard" pattern combed on the horse's hip, as well as the monogrammed HM(Hawthorn Mellody) saddle pad. That's the way it used to be done in the Colonies, when show biz was a classy world. Col. Herriott or Madame Col Olds Rossi., do you recall this horse being used in the Hawthorn Horse Fantasy Review for high school, or just the two drop dead gorgeous Andalusian and Lusitano that are pictured below mounted by John and Herta Cuneo? John Cuneo looks amazingly young in this photo. God bless him, he is in his 80's today. I believe 82 or 83.

Dancing Horse Theater--Delevan Wisconsin

The Dancing Horse Theater in the Lake Geneva area of southeastern Wisconsin is presenting its Spectacular Holiday Show through January 9, 2011. The dancing horses are a delight, in this show that is all about making dreams come true.

Dancing Horses Theater is a show described as part Las Vegas and part Disney. The costuming and lights are reminiscent of Las Vegas. The childlike enthusiasm and sense of fantasy and fun is Disney-like. It is a show that will leave you smiling.

The family friendly show can be enjoyed by children and adults. The 90 minute show is held in an indoor area, The dancing horses are brothers and sisters, and look very much alike. The owner of the theater talks about her girlhood dream of owning horses, making dreams come true and the stallion that sired the dancing horses that now perform at the theater.

You can purchase tickets for the show only, or tickets that include lunch or dinner. Show only tickets are $25.00. Show plus lunch or dinner ticket are $49.59. Seats for children under 12 are $12.50. There is a snack bar in the theater.

Dancing Horse Theatre
is located in Delavan, Wisconsin, just west of Lake Geneva. 5065 Hwy 50, Delavan, WI 262-728-8200

This is so embarrassing I don't even want to tell you which "horse theater Christmas show" this pony performed in. Can you imagine putting a wooly, winter coated, manure stained pony in a show in front of the paying public? Forget the feet that obviously need work, and weren't even cleaned for the show, as well as the chipped, unpainted pedestal. His harness is truly appalling. It is obviously hand made, and it looks like it was made at the last minute, with an old nylon surcingle, what looks like a tassled Wal-Mart curtain for a backpad, rope check reins covered with red electric tape, I assume for a "festive, Christmas look" and rope climbing/key chain snaps at the end attached to the side rings on a barn halter, not even having a headstall. Note on the left side it has been "knotted" to make is shorter, most likely to keep the dirty little tramp looking to the inside and lining up straight.

The Knie's, Krone's, Togni's, Casartely's, Richter's and Cavallia's of the world have to be laughing at the equestrian hillbillies here in the Colonies. Geez.........

IZES(similar to the CFA, only for zoo's) Meeting and Collectors Fair--Bristol Zoo

IZES 2011 MEETING

SUNDAY MARCH 6TH

BRISTOL ZOO GARDENS

On the above date we return to Bristol Zoo for the above meeting and collectors fair. The day will revolve around the pre-launch of the ‘Illustrated History Of Bristol Zoo’ which myself, Alan Ashby and Christoph Schwitzer have produced to celebrate the zoo’s 175th anniversary this year. This will be the first opportunity to purchase the book and in lieu of IZES discount the participant’s fee will be waived this year (in other words entry to the event and the zoo is F.O.C). In addition there will be a talk about the zoo’s history and previously unseen film (including ‘News From The Zoos’ - an ancient BBC television programme). We are also hoping to include a tour of the zoo which looks at some areas not visited on our last meeting here. The use of tables for the trading/sale/purchase of zoo ephemera will of course be provided and the whole meeting will commence at 10.30 a.m. As ever we hope as many members can attend as possible and we apologise for the short(ish) notice - 2010 was a VERY busy year! See you there then!

Photos from 1960. This had to have been one of the last existing "Victorian style" bear pits left in England. Does anyone know if that is the case?

I don't know what it is, maybe sawdust or something, but these two young tigers, particularly the male, are acting very funny with their ears, as well as shaking their heads and "snorting" as if to clear their nostrils. The male is a real sweet heart. Note him "chuffing" at Antal all during the act.

History's greatest "alibi" was quoted today, and as an American I couldn't be prouder!!!

The former leader of our nation's house of representatives, above was convicted of money laundering for illegally directing just shy of $200,000 in corporate political donations to candidates from the Texas State Legislature.

"I can't be remorseful for something I don't think I did," Former Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives Tom Delay said today in a statement just before Judge Priest pronounced his 3 year sentence, followed by 10 years probation.

"I can't be remorseful for something I don't think I did," has to be the most creative alibi/excuse anyone has ever come up with. I suggest it is taught in grade school and every child required to memorize it like the National Anthem. That way as they are growing up, when ever they are grounded for something they have done, until they say they are sorry, they have an "out". The Catholic church will probably be able to cease with confession and Hail Mary's eventually. After all, what would be the point? Tom Delay and American politics sure are piece of work.

Oh How the Mighty Have Fallen: Former U.S. House Majority Leaders ...

The greatest "alibi/excuse" ever inflicted on an intelligent society!!!!!!
