Human Perception is a Strange Creature.

For folks who still can't figure out why elephants must be given multi million dollar facilities in which to live, while camel are housed in pretty much what ever is available, and why there are dozens of "save the elephant" organizations, and virtually no "save the camel" organizations, and why you can run a pin/bone through a camels nose to steer it, but can't put a chain on an elephant or control/steer it with an elephant hook, these video's might help you understand human nature. "Cute and Charming" will win the day, every day.

Unfortunate for a camel, they attack people, they don't have accident's, that is actually the fault and responsibility of the asphalt.

You can still eat them if you want to, probably even make a pair of fine Larry Mahan's out of them if the hide was a bit more exotic.

If they would only learn to do goofy things, that would make the idiot's standing outside the fence go "Ahhhh, how sweet, they are so cute" it would be a different deal and they would be living in the multi million dollar "spa/health club" instead of tied up to a rail with an evil rope, sometimes even, horror of horror's, a chain. Folks would be marching for their release and freedom, because next to man himself, surely they are are smartest, most social, family oriented animal in all the world.

Even with a cute, catchy little tune they are what they are.

Worst of all, they spit, and we as civilized Emily Post mannered human beings know that spitting is just wrong. Why in the world would we want to Champion the cause of a vile, nasty creature like the camel!!!!!!!

You should really put some sort of warning before readers click on the video of the camel having its throat cut. It was disgusting and I never would have looked if I knew it was the actual killing.

Dennis,
Sorry, I don't do the candy ass warning deal. Not for anything. It's life Pal, it's reality. Suck it up. Sometimes death is dirty. Everything can't be a Sesame Street episode or a Barney song. Point is, why can we eat a cow, a pig, a sheep, a chicken etc. in this country, but we can't eat a horse or a camel? That's the twisted world that should have a warning label.

Poor response Wade.
Remember the movie from decades ago called 'Mondo Cane' ? They showed animals being killed with knives and swords.
You might enjoy it.

Dennis,
It wasn't a poor response. It had the impact of the recent Gaddafi assignation which even "Warning Graphic Material" didn't help soften. It needed the impact of screaming hooligans and blood. For a brief, brief moment I thought, "Geez, poor guy." That moment passed in a blink of an eye when I reminded myself, "wait a minute, it's that psychopath Muammar. In the case of the camel tape Dennis, it was an agricultural animal being slaughtered for foodstuff. It was over in a moment. Care to wager how many hundreds of thousands of animals suffer a harsh lifetime of captivity in the care of folks who "love them like family, they are like my children." Carson and Barnes Circus had 47 baby elephants on the show under the age of 6. They should be about middle aged now. How many are still alive?

No, I had never heard of or seen Mondo Cane, so I looked it up. Jesus, Dennis you need to pull the thong out of your crack and relax. Tranquilo, tranquilo.

This section of the book covered Mondo films, a series of exploitation "shockumentaries" from the early 60'sthat presented "actual" footage of deviant sexual activities or death. Many scenes in these films, while represented as real, were false.

Mondo Cane The film consists of a series of travelogue vignettes that provide glimpses into cultural practices around the world with the intention to shock or surprise Western film audiences. Despite its claims of genuine documentation, certain scenes in the film are either staged or creatively manipulated in order to enhance this effect.

By the way what would you kill an animal with, if all you had was a knife or sword? If all I had was a big tree branch, guess what I would use?

P.S Don't worry about Edward Scissorhand, he isn't coming to get you.

I didn't need a warning.
The still shot on the video link was enough to drop my blood pressure.

PK,
Unfortunately for a camel they don't chew their cud. They ruminate and thus can't grow up to be kosher. If they were lucky enough to be kosher they would have a professional shochet who would quickly get the job done by a single cut across the throat to a precise depth, severing both carotid arteries, both jugular veins, both vagus nerves, the trachea and the esophagus, no higher than the epiglottis and no lower than where cilia begin inside the trachea.
