The type and vintage of some of these postcards documenting children's zoos suggest that they were part of the growth in all child-age business attendant to the baby boom after WWII. Maybe we need another one to turn around the economy? As Benny Hill's Chinese restaurant owner once declared to his over-worked Indian national, whose wife couldn't get pregnant, "Put more men on the job."
