Hi Wade thanks for the heads up on my blog. I'm posting from my other user account. The articles I put on there are from my research notes. Somewhere along the way I'll be writing a history of the Zoo and Circus animals in Australasia. A lot of stories yet to be told..

You would think with all the money I pay Outback Robinson to do my public relation's he could come up with something better then that. Geez. I don't know if Steve is the norm for Australians, but from what I have noted, it seems if you don't agree with him, you are being argumentative.

Addendum to Liz,
I am sure you are aware of Balto the lead sled dog in final leg of the 1925 diphtheria serum run to Nome, Alaska. The yearly Iditarod dog sled race is held each year to commemorate the event. He was exhibited at the Brookside Zoo(now Cleveland Metro Zoo)until his death at which time he was mounted given to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. There is a beautiful statue commemorating Balto in New York's Central Park that I used to take my boy's to see each year when the Ringling Show played Madison Square Garden.
I also seem to recall that the National Zoo kept sled dogs for a while, either Perry's or Byrd's. Maybe Jim Alexander or Richard Reynolds could confirm.
The Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City currently exhibits Xoloitzcuintle at their zoo, and believe at one time a number of German Zoo's, notably Leipzig and Berlin kept various breed's of domestic dog's for exhibit.
