Did you ever see that book which I think was titled "The Zookeeper's Wife"? Sincerely Paul

Paul,
Yes, I have read it, and have a copy, but as I am known for being a bit of a cynic and a hard sell, I am with holding judgment, or aggreement on it. The fact that there were very few endnotes or sources provided, has to make me wonder how many of the very detailed conversations in the book, were verbatim or as the author wanted us to interpret them. Truthfully, I think I am still smarting over the fact's that have come out about Lutz Heck the past few years. I really admired the Heck zoological family as a child, and the history learned, has been unsettling to me. It isn't pleasant to have to admit that hero's are flawed. A good read, none the less.

I was watching a TV show about the guy who did those paintings of dogs playing poker. He also did paintings of the world's first lion tamer, who they said was an American (I'm sure you know all about this). He also created huge sculptures of lions which I assume are in London. He got a lion from the London Zoo to serve as his model and this particular second hand lion was previously owned by the King of Sardinia, if I got the story right. Thanks for the reply concerning The Zookeeper's Wife. I have'nt read it. I just thought of it in connection with Poland. I watched part of an old movie from 1965 the other day titled Zebra In The Kitchen. It was about a kid who finds a set of keys and releases all of the animals at a rundown zoo. It seemed sort of Disneyesque. Sincerely Paul

I used to work in Montreal in a plant assembling pool heaters in 1980 or 1981 when I was in college. I think I was one of only three people working there who were not Polish. Everyone spoke Polish there at work. It was like living in Poland. The boss was on the phone all day with Solidarnosk. Sincerely Paul
