A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.
Short shot's of the Mack McDonald elephants, and I believe the guy whacking the lions is Guy Gossing.

That is Guy alright. I met him and his wife at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Not the friendly types.
Especially when I mentioned I intended to try my hand at wild animal training. They heaped roadblocks in my path such as the long hours and practise it would take. I left, but not giving up an iota on my plan.
Iota. Wasn't that the name of one of D.R.s elephants? Stood next to Isla in truck 73. Dennis Younger
Dennis,
It's about the goofiest "bounce" I have ever seen, bar none. I think the elephants name was Iona.
Wade
Dennis,
How many of those elephants' names from the seventies can your remember?
I think the elephant's name was Ione. Bobby Gibbs had her when he started out with his act.
Another vote for Guy Gossing though I only saw the tiger act. I always found Guy to be a nice fellow but then I wasn't thinking about doing a cat act. It was a goofy looking bounce, even with a little kick.
Wade. Not sure what 'bounce' your referring to.
Radar. With a piece of paper and pen I guess I could name all the rubber cows on the show in the late 70's. I was called from the cat barn in Hugo to help stencil the names on the foreheads just before the 76 season started.
Iota was my lame attempt at humor. She never existed. Isla does. Ione wasn't there at that time. Dennis
