Realm of the Giants--Dierenpark Amersfoort Zoo

These are pictures from last year, during construction of "Realm of the Giants". You really have to question what possess an intelligent group of people to construct something like this? The lost animal space in the construction of this folly is mind boggling. Maybe David Hancocks is right, when he suggests these monumental endeavors are more for the accolade's and high five from colleges, and the "one upping" the Jones, then anything to do with animal welfare and comfort. Just insane the money spent on something as foolish as this, when I promise this zoo, like all who do something like this, have a dozen exhibits with less popular animals in need of improvement and up grade.
