I can't seem to find any information about the owl grotto pictured in the threads below. There is plenty of information about the Palace it's self, but nothing about the grotto's themselves. It is almost like they are embarrassed to mention them in any of the writing about the Palace it's self. Does anyone know anything about the owl grotto's? Why were they built? What was the purpose of keeping the owl's? For falconry, popular at the time, owl's are not of much use. The grotto's are quite an "eye sore" at an otherwise beautiful Palace.
I wonder if that whack job crazy King Ludwig II of Bavaria had anything to do with the building of the Wallenstein Palace owl grotto's, or if it was just a popular modernism/grotesque style of architecture of the day. Above is the "Venus grotto" built by wing nut King Ludwig at his Linderhof castle. Ludwig liked to be rowed around the lake in the golden swan boat, in the underground grotto he built, while listening to Wagner concertos played by his orchestra.

The I.T. dept has been trying to call you for a couple days to see if you like the new look of the blog. Since it goes straight to voice mail, and we haven't received any calls complaining about it, I am assuming it is ok? Saw the Blue show last night. Evansville the two nights before. I have the Idiot Technical dept. blocked on my phone. I wondered what happened to the color. I was afraid I had hit a wrong button, and was holding my breath waiting for the whole deal to evaporate and disappear. But I do like it, none the less. That's great you saw the Blue Show and Evansville both, and got a chance to see how real tiger trainer's do their thing. They sure don't mess around like you do, do they? Do try to get to Hammond, to complete your off season educational odyssey.

Why are the different colors in the comments and relevant stops not uniform, ie. two one color, three another color, one another color? That's crazy. Why isn't it every other color different equally. You know if things aren't liner and in the right, equal order, it upset's me and gives me a head ache. Are you trying to make me ill, or is that the way it has to be? If not fix the damn thing, when you are through taking notes at the cat training seminars. Thank you.

The composer Wagner was also King Ludwig II's lover. The King had the grottos built for his private rendevous away from the prying eyes of servants and the public since homosexuality was frowned upon. He was the Liberace of his day, except with a title rather than a piano.

Thank you for the information, I didn't know that. All I knew was that "King Ludie Deuce" of Bavaria was a very dim bulb. I don't think he was the "Liberace of his day" though. I think that more accurately describes Wagner. I think the kingster could best be analogized as being the former New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey of his day, except with a whole country, instead of just a state.

The red is nearly impossible to see on the gray background. If I cannot read it, I am sure Wade is having a helluva time trying to figure out what is says.
