I wonder if this picture was taken during a performance, or if it was staged as a "publicity" shot. Just curious, because of the way the elephant's are facing and the way the trainer is facing, plus the background of a railcar and wagon. I hope anybody who may have been at Baraboo, around this time may have more insight.
Thanks
Wade

Wade,
I might be wrong, but this was the early 1960's and I don't believe the Hippodrome had been completed yet so the performances were held outdoors here. The lack of anyone else in the photo seems to say "Press"

I, of course knew who it was, but was hoping John would see it, and tell me himself. Bob, that makes sense. It didn't look like a "show" shot, although they are in costumes, because John Milton would have been grandstanding a lot more. LOL How is the Col. doing, has anyone heard? I haven't seen him around any of the internet lot's, and was growing a bit concerned. He is a good man, and I wish him the best.

Wade,

Agree with Bob. Likely a staged shot for publicity or for a post card.
