A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Wade,
Can you give us any background or information you may have about Jewel New. I've only seen video of his act on the tape you appeared in " Big Cats of the Big Top". It appears he had a very busy act with all male lions. Did Charley ever relay any stories about him to you.
thanks...
Vincent/San Diego
Vincent, I can attempt to answer any question you have about Jewell.
The lion Jewell is holding was Soloman. He opened the act by putting his face into Solomans mouth. The lions on the pyramid and from left to right. JY, Herc, Monarch, Lancer and Travis. They did a sit up on the pyramid then returned to seats and he tore down the pyramid.
Gary,
Thanks for the response.
I'd appreciate any information your willing to share about your time with Jewell or Charley.
To start how did you come to work for both Charley and Jewell and how long did you work for them?
What kind of Bosses were they, easygoing, demanding?
How much training and reheasals were done while the circus was in season and on the road? Did the trainers constantly work on new tricks or additions to thier acts, or were the acts pretty much set once the tour began?
I'd appreciate any insight you have, I've been a huge fan of animal acts since childhood.
Thanks in advance for your response.
Vincent
