A look at Hagenbeck's successful elephant breeding program.
This course looks like a great opportunity to get together and discuss design/exhibit philosophy's. I should hope one of the agenda's would be the reexamining of Carl Hagenbeck's moat philosophy. State of the art over a hundred years ago when he first built the TierPark, and for the most part still useful today, but as we can obviously see by the photo above, in need of "adjustment" when it comes to managing the most majestic animal on the face of the earth, the bull Asian elephant.
