Basel Zoo--Bird House

A quick look reminded me of the former Bird House at the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, WI, now used as non-animal exhibit and meeting building. I'm sure it's not as big but has the same style.

Another building I'm glad they kept.

Yes the old buildings as far as I am concerned are as important as the animals they once housed. Some zoological architects have an extraordinary ability retain, redesign, and utilize them often with different species then what they originally housed. I think that is the best way to go, if it is at all possible, instead of shutting them down and using them for another purpose. Although using them for another purpose is far better then tearing them down completely. I have a massive amount of "redone" building pictures that I have collected over the years, and will keep posting them. Next to old zoological architectural drafting's they are my favorite aspect of the zoological field. I just have to be careful and not piss young Thomas from Belgium off because he is not getting his "fix" of cage act pictures.
