In the past when I have suggested that beast wagons out in the weather with no warmth, with the exception of a bedding of straw/hay and shaving may be an outdated/antiquated means of animal husbandry, it has been suggested that maybe I am nuts.

I must have been taught by some mean old b******s!
If I had posed like the last pic, with my back to an open feed flap like that, I would have been kicked in the ass big time.
Steve - If you look at the picture again you will see that Christian Walliser (the guy in the wheelchair and the trainer of the tigers) is at least six feet away from the cages and out of harms way.

Othmar,
Your right. No way could the tigers get to him, through the women. I couldn't believe that he was petting one of the tigers. I have never felt or petted a tiger through the bars. Call me crazy, but like Steve it was something I was taught in 1974, and I just chose to adhere to it.

Quote Wade "I have never felt or petted a tiger through the bars."
Are you sure about that? I mean really, really sure?
Because I can recall, like it happened yesterday, seeing you with my own eys petting a tiger through the cage bars and Cuneo's tiger barn.;)

Mr Vohringer - it wasn't Mr Walliser that I was concerned about. Photo angle or not, the lady in black would have got hooked before him.
Wade - what have these pictures got to do with whether you are nuts or not?
Othmar,

Not only am I really, really sure, I am really, really positive, as I told you the same thing. The three days we were together for an hour or so a day, you may have misinterpreted what you saw. Some folks have until it is explained. I put the back of my hand against the bars with my fingers in a "fist", but only if it is a cage with bars/mesh close enough together that my hand can't be grabbed. That's what you may have seen. But you never saw me put a finger or a hand in a transport/living cage, not even if press was there, and I felt a need to grandstand. In fact when they ask, "can you pet the tigers", you will not find a quote different then, "only certain ones in the performance cage, never in their living cage. I use the back of my hand, with the fingers back, if I greet one." When they ask why, they are told, "because I have seen too many fingers lost. If I am going to get hurt, I am going to get hurt in the training cage, where I get paid for it."

Steve,
The pictures have nothing to do with whether I am nuts or not. There are enough folks who will validate that fact, and pictures are not necessary to confirm it.
Wade
On that, my friend, I will take your word! LOL
