Hello Wade: This is a photo Of Bobbie Peck, probably on Cole Bros. in the 1940's. I have a lot of information on her and she was a well-known showgirl, who did it all back in the 30's, 40's, 50's and into the 60's. She worked manege, elephants, web, wild west concert, you name it and she did it. After Cole, she worked for the Clyde Beatty Circus throughout the 1950's. She lived in Texas, and when she passed away back in the late 1990's, they had auctions for days- as apparently she never threw anything away. Too bad she hadn't made arrangements for her "stuff" to go to a museum, because she must've had tons of photos, wardrobe, written records, etc. I have a number of contracts from throughout her career and she certainly was a favorite of Shrine Temple Potentates, as many of them used to hire their own acts, and she would work year after year for many of the largest sponsored dates in the U.S. She originally was a dancer on stage and probably got into circus when vaudeville stage shows started declining. I even had one dealer send me a couple of 8x10's of her nude in some studio shots that must've been taken in the 1920's when she was about 17 or 18 years old. She knew lots of showfolks and worked with many of the top names of the 20th century. I have this same photo at home, and I believe she wrote on the back the name of the horse, show, date, etc. she was pretty good at labeling her photos, so a lot of information can be found from her notes. Just thought you should know and others can associate a name and a long career with the photo.

Neil,
Great stuff. Thank you, it is appreciated. From another side of the coin though, that fact that she had a number of contracts with Shrine Potentates, doesn't necessarily indicate they like her act. There have been many documented "ulterior motives" by a Temple/Potentate in the past for awarding long term contracts.
