Valerie Rock's four-eared cat, Yoda, isn't the only unique multi-eared feline around
Theoretical question 0 the day: Are the animal "oddities" posted here "humiliated" because they are pictured on the internet, or are they only "humiliated" if an admission is charged to see them? Is the animal above "humiliated" because he has been named Yoda?
Paul Macarthy, you can go first.

As a genetics geek, I have nothing against photos of such animals, but I don't agree with exhibiting them as live attractions in sideshows as noisy gawkers can cause distress to the animals. I've been to enough cat and dog shows and seen enough upset animals trying to hide from people staring at them to have witnessed the distress in person.
Staring at a cat is seen by the cat as a threat. Staring at a dog is seen as a challenge/dominance. Staring at a photo, however, does not cause distress to the animal. It's not a question of humiliation, it's a an issue of stress and distress to a living creature.
IIewtrah,
Your Messy Beast site speaks to your passion/like of genetics, but not all animals are stressed by noise or activity. If they are given the proper time, from a young age to accept/get used to it, stress in non existent. Not given the proper introduction to noise the stress can be intolerable. To blanket all animals, genetically challenged or not is a biased misstatement, with out a learning of the facts. Yes, it is a question of "humiliation." That's the reason 4000.00 was paid for the puppy. That is another one sided bias, based on a human emotion. It would behoove you and her, to look at an animal through their eyes, and not look at them through opinionated human eyes. By the way, your early modeling portfolio is killer!!!! God Bless plastic wrapl

Anonymous,
I wasn't spouting nothing based on no science. I was stating what I have seen over a life time, and continue to see daily with domestic animals. They all do not react the same way and I surly do know the difference between resignation and acceptance, as I to see that daily. It was science that taught me what to look for. Get a name, some courage, and your commments will be more valid.

stating what you've seen over a lifetime of using animals to do your bidding. not exactly an unbiased view, now, is it? do you know the difference between "acceptance" and "comfort"? do you even care about the animals' "enjoyment"?
if you really can't see the difference, for a dog, between life as part of a Coney Island sideshow and life as a pet in someone's home, then your views aren't even worth considering.
Anonymous,
I should have posted your first comment, because with this one you have done more to invalidate any knowledgeable/legitimate animal welfare movement then Peta has done. I just hope you all don't keep shooting your animal rights feet, because there is a need for a bit of regulation. In addition to " a life time of using animals to do my bidding", I have spent a life time of observing animals being animals. Science explained what I was seeing. Fat over weight dog, used to social contact, alone, waiting for his master to come home and dress him in his sweater because it is cold and take him for a walk. He don't enjoy it Pal, he just realizes his stubby little legs won't be running free with the pack anytime soon. There's your BS human emotions. Do I know what an animals acceptance, comfort, and enjoyment are. Hell yes!!! If I want to believe a deer is feeling "enjoyment" being free eating the fresh clover until I scare him, I have to then believe if I stay there long enough quietly, he will eventually be "comfortable" enough to walk into rifle range and with "acceptance", take a bullet right behind the front legs, through the heart and lungs. He must have wanted to die, he walked into that shot. Did I get human/animal emotions right? If not, it's as much BS as "Fluffy want's to live in the masters house, but not his masters sideshow tent."
If you want another shot at shitting on validity, welcome. You'll be able to hand in hand with Ingrid Newkirk, shut the movement down like a derailed train.
