And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. For 1940....I would say that is damn incredible footage. I am assuming the cats have been altered, but just the same, the dancing shoulder stand is impressive to me.

It is just part of the act. He also did a great cover laying on a number of cat's with one laying on top of him. According to his book he was mauled very severely. Not that it matter's, but there has always been speculation that he was gay. When I first joined the circus that was pointed out by someone each time his name was mentioned. Fact or sour grapes, who knows or cares, given the nature of circus history. The "dancing" would seem to confirm that. LOL I wouldn't assume they were altered, as much as youngish animals.

I was thinking alot of the animals looked young. Who gives a #$%& if he was gay or not? Or as my father inlaw would have said, "Ever seen one in his mouth", LOL. If I can get Shonti to stand up and dance like that (Not likely since I cant dance that well without a tiger on me, much less holding one up) people can call me gay or anything else, while in the back of their minds they think "damn that looks pretty cool"

I personally don't know if the dancing looks any cooler then a standing shoulder stand. And I agree about the sexual persuasion, but then again, how many conversations about someone in this business is not something irrelevant thrown in, whether they be a good mechanic or a hard ass, so it must be relevant to this industry.

I sent this video to another blog about a year ago and it never ran. Maybe it had something to do with that persuassion thing. His book is a very entertaining read.
