A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

As there seem's to be an interest in the original White Tigers, I would be remiss if I did not mention that that is Ika hanging over my shoulders, and Tony jumping over me in the commercial.

This is amazing !!! I stumbled upon it accidentally when I was looking for a picture you posted way back when of Moni the white tiger at the National Zoo. That one seems to be gone, but I wanted to mention that the newspaper clipping I e-mailed you from the Washington Post was a picture of Moni as a cub, and that he was the uncle and first cousin of Ika and Ari. If you can post an old commercial like this can you post your appearance on Beyond Reason? I wrote a letter about that show and your appearance on it to the TV magazine which comes with the local newspaper, the Ottawa Citizen, a year or two, I guess it was, before I discovered the Buckles Weblog (by googling Baron Julius Von Uhl), and they published it and answered my question, saying when the series ran. I also saw recently a documentary I saw on the National Geographic channel titled Escape Proof Zoos, which includes what I believe is old film footage of Mohini and her mate Sampson at the National Zoo. I remember seeing this TV commercial (on TV of course), but I did'nt know the white tiger jumping was Tony. It was years later before I ever heard of Tony. (Oh I was going to say that I suspect that Moni was a star-gazer.) Thank you for posting the commercial. Sincerely Paul McCarthy PS I had reread the Sports Illustrated article off of micro-film at the library not long before I found Buckles, which is another coincidence, and at the time, since I did'nt know of the existence of any circus blogs, I considered writing you a letter, thinking that we probably had something in common.
I hope you did not get into any trouble over that. Sincerely Paul McCarthy
Paul,
Into any trouble over what? Trouble is what I cause, not what I get into.
