Does anybody know who is in charge of this crock of shit!!!!

The ultimate in "self serving BS paper" The shows statement: "With the reality of rampant animal abuse and cruelty in the circus world, we are dedicated to preserving the welfare of these beautiful creatures."

This is akin to someone laying claim to a "European style" of training, at the same time pissing on skilled European trainers, given the crap they just presented to the public!!!!!!! The "self servers" have really damaged a noble profession.

How are they preserving? What do they have to do with animals to support that statement?
Other than bashing everyone that started the very name they are using... CIRCUS!

Wade, Everyone that has anything to do with this is listed on the site with their e-mail address. I am writing to each one and telling them as a matter of fact ,that what they wrote is wrong and I think that every circus person should do the same. And any one else in the world who cares about the circus. If they don't have the web address, it is simply Greatamericanroyalcircus.com and look at contact us and do it. Joanne

Jeez, you Yanks are slow to catch up!!

A year ago we had a circus owner of a "European style" outfit tell the newspapers that "Other shows have animals but nobody at our circus likes the stress, the suffering the animals are under. We prefer animals to be free and our circus has enough human talent".

At the same time her husband was trying to buy lions and tigers to make an act!! Hypocrites.

Fortunately they have gone broke and have had to be employed by his sister and brother-in-law's new circus.

Steve,
The actions of a few, under the title of "circus" the past 10 years, has made it easy to understand why the world perceives the profession as it does. The rest of the profession either ignores them and their damage, or jumps on the bandwagon or gets in the buffet table line with them, in a effort to be accepted. I'll never be convinced we didn't do it to ourselves.

Wade - don't pull this "past ten years" caper - it's been going on way longer than that.

The rest of the world regards us the way that they do because just about every movie you see features the innocent trapeze girl, the evil ringmaster and the psycopathic animal trainer in that eternal bloody triangle. Circuses hire out to movie companies without the right to veto how the circus world is portrayed in the script. The short term [dollar] gain has always been more important than the long term [lost reputation] pain. That's been going on for a lot longer than ten years.

Over twenty years ago we had European circus owners, who couldn't get a feed in their homeland, come to our country and start up circuses. They were the first to cuddle up to Animal Liberation for some short term gain - no protests in front of their shows. They are now getting bitten on the bum because the AR mob, having divided the circus world here, are now picking on them to even get rid of their dogs and horses.

I'm not disagreeing that we are our own worst enemies - I'm saying that it's been going on for way longer than ten years.

Misrepresentation of ourselves by ourselves as well. Only today I'm having to correct a bloke on a zoo blog who is telling the world that circus animals are "part of the family".

When will learn to call it as it is?

Steve,
Very good point. And, you are right. Maybe I was misinterpreting the desperation that I have seen in the last ten year to hold on to anything, regardless of the damage long term. When we applauded and revered the idiots who "loved them like my children", and "they are like members of my family," how can we be surprised at the recent turn of events, like the formulation of this show. I recall when Solei came out, everyone was up in arms. They consoled themselves with, "at least they don't call themselves "circus". That was valid, and I have stated many times, "why is it all lumped under the umbrella of "circus". Even in the horse industry, they have Class A, Class B, and local shows. That way you know exactly what you are going to be seeing. And you don't go to the local or Class B show's to see champions, but you will see horses. We were the poster child for regulation and standards.

This show is the "dream" or nightmare of Circus Painter Jim Hand's son thomas hand.....don't think it'll ever get out of the barn or even is intended to get out of the barn!
