A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

I don't know, but I don't hate it!
I know I'm going to regret commenting here. But, I did click on the three strnage photos and managed to decide the first phot might be a handbalancing/contortion with those pedestal looking things (handbalancing canes?), the second lady is doing something with a chain (don't want to go there) and the third is juggling.
I don't see where the water adds anything to the acts unless these ladies don't have a lot of skill and think the wet wardrobe, snarled hair, and slinkiness makes up for the lack of talent or skill, which I cannot offer an opinion on since these are only three still photos. Quality props and equipment, great wardrobe, and great music are all parts of great circus acts that enhance great performances. Just to add some kind of water effect for no reason just does not make sense. Water tanks are great for sway poles, I even used them on Ian Garden's show as guyline anchors for my perch act one summer, and I remember seeing dancing waters on an ice show when I was young that made a very attractive background for one of the skating routines. But these photos seem to me to just plunk someone in a pool of water for no real reason.
I have not yet seen Cirque du Soleil's "O" out in Vegas but people who have seen it say that the water elements there do make some kind of sense to the show. I'm not a great fan of Cirque so want be making a tirp out there to see the show. I'd probably go if I could afford a ticket and was in Vegas for some other reason.

Wait a while. I saw this show last Saturday, so I suppose I'd better send The Great Burck some comments to consider posting on this blog. No animals in the show, mind. But (Mary Ann, please note) wet blokes too!
John,
Was there a cover charge, or just a 5 drink minimum? Was there a VIP room?
Wade
John, the wet blokes would be OK, but wet animals might smell funny. LOL
Wade, do you really want a wet lap dance? LOL
Mary Ann
Mary Ann,
Of course I do. Is there another kind?
Wade
How much were the lap dances? was there a supplemental charge for the wet ones? Did the wet down males get a special supplement? In the tits and ass clubs back in Orlando, at least the guys kept their clothes on. But what do I know, pole dancing is now a recreational sport and physical fittness genera here in St. Louis.
