A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

This looks like a prelude into a disaster!! If I were him I would invest in a hard hat and hockey face mask,,,,LOL
Casey,
I have given as well as received fat lips. I can't imagine what lips would look like whacked with a sledge hammer. LOL Looking at the broken tusk cap, we have to assume this girl is not the "gentle/sensitive" pesonality.
Wade
Good to see they have the tusk banded properly, open on the end to allow for any drainage, etc.
Ryan,
What drainage?
Wade
I think Ryan is insinuating nerve or quick drainage from a breakage. I think it is way to low on the tusk for that. I am guessing the caps matched when they put them on, probably to prevent wear and tear on the tusk, but she is just a persistent girl. It would have to be at least a foot higher (closer probably to 2 ft) to see any drainage of anything.
The again,,,Ryan may just be "ribbing" us
No ribbing, it was an honest comment. I agree with Casey on the length of the tusk, but did notice afterwards that the left tusk is capped at the end. Last year one of Dad's elephants broke her left tusk just over the gum line. It cracked horizontally up under the gum. He banded it together so that it would grow out before any more chipped off, into the head or further behind the gum line.
Why doesn't that elephant in the back have any tusks?
Ryan,
Do you understand that the right tusk had a ball cap on it, like the left just, and that it was just broke off? That those caps aren't to prevent further breakage they are to prevent breakage in the first place. That's why I assumed she wasn't a girl who did thing "easy." But rather as Tina Turner suggests, "rough." LOL
Wade
Oh... that makes sense. No I did not understand that. lol
And must be why she caught your attention Wade. Growl
Ryan,
You putz. The elephant in the back is probably a tuskless male. Shees.
Wade
How can you tell it's a male if it doesn't have any tusks?
Ryan,
They all have that look in their eye.
Wade
Haha. Before anyone gets the wrong idea that was a joke. I'm just "ribbing," as Casey would put it. Question however: is the asian chained, or is she just wearing a bracelet on that back left leg? I cannot tell on the African
Did you guys wake up today and eat everything in the medicine cabinet??? WTF Tuskless male you're kidding rite??? Keep it up, you guys will have the other half of Europe thinking we are as retarded as the first half thought,,,,LOL
Ryan,
I think what you are seeing is just sawdust stuck to her skin above the nails.
Oh you are right. Good eye.
Tuskless male, my ass. lol
Europe here we come.
Casey,
What halves were those?
Wade
