Roger falck now is doing 2 hindleg walk tigers which is very good. I think is like tripple for flying act.For many years all try for triple then come vasquez and quad and all try quad. After come Mr. Burck and 3 hinkleg tigers all now try many hinkleg. Fabian E

Fabian,
A cage act with white tigers hasn't gotten anything since 1999, with the exception of the Hawthorn white tigers in 2004. Only 3 silvers for cage acts since 1999. Lets see how this one fares. They only seem to like "some" white tiger acts at MC.

Wade,
I don't think there's a problem of "they" liking or not cage act.
"They" doesn't have an identity, because every year is a different jury and every year different acts to compete in different specialties.
It is obvious for me that strong acrobatic troupes, jugglers or others have much more possibilities than cage acts.
But you can be right by the fact that, if they give out up to four silvers in an edition, one more will not make the difference for a good cage.
But I heard appreciation of Falk this year, and I don't see a silver impossible for him (if silver is not previously arranged for some other act, animal or not).
The day they will give us cage vs cage, clowns vs clowns etc, we'll see the truth.

Wade, do you know where Roger Falck's white tigers are from?

Raffaele,
I don't think giving out a 4th one, just to give one is right. That is just more of the "sham" of this festival. I suggest giving one based on what has received one in the past,(don't give me that different jury, "honor" spin LOL) might be as valid as giving one based on what they are competing against.

Mary Ann,
I don't know. That's like Thomas wanting to know the names. No disrespect but what they do and how they look doing it is more important then where they came from or what they are called. That's just my opinion, and maybe somebody else knows.

Raffaele,
As important/valid as cage act against cage act, elephants against elephants, clowns against clowns is a defining standard. How they do the behaviors. Is a sit up with one foot down knocked down against a sit up with both feet up. Are the animals willing or apprehensive? Are all trunks up, or are some down, etc. etc.? Then you can judge the beauty pageant, like creativity, tits and ass, costuming, presentation.

I finally got to the part on the video with the two forward hind legs.
BRAVO! BEAUTIFUL! I think he should get a gold regardless of what else was in the act. I know how much goes into teaching that trick from experience and this guys end result is much better then mine.

Casey, where is the video? Thank you.

Casey,
It isn't gold, but it isn't bronze either. And they shouldn't judge on one behavior they should judge on the whole presentation.

It is the post above here the podcast video. Hind leg starts at the 1:24 second mark and goes to the 1:33 mark on the video. I had a helluva time getting the video to load, but it is worth the wait.

Casey, thank you. I had a hard time with the podcast video loading the first time and gave up on it, so I looked in youtube and searches, and I couldn't find anything else on this guy.

Mary Ann Roger Falck (and the Falck family) works in France at "cirque Achille Zavatta Fils". I have met them recently, there are very cool. (sorry for my english)

Wade G. Burck said...

Pierre,
Welcome, and no need to apologize for your English. We are friendly, and can work it out. If you read other posts you will find where Mary Ann talks to an Englishman in French, just to be difficult. LOL
Does Rogers father also train felines?

Joseph Falck, Roger's father, doesn't work in the show since few years (he was an acrobat). Roger learned with his grandfather Auguste Falck who worked with many animals (felines, horses, zebras, giraffe, elephants...). Their circus is a familial circus and Auguste presented all the shows with animals now he presents horses and Roger presents tigers and elephants.

Pierre,
I have a younger brother who lives in St. Louis, France. He went to Europe in 1988 with the tigers that went to Knie, and like it so much he stayed. He worked for a time at Thoiry outside of Paris.
