Adams Fire--Raising the bar on the standard

For the first time in 50 years an Arabian, Adams Fire is a finalist for the USET(governing body of equestrian sports in America) "Horse of the Year" Award. Adams Fire is a half Arabian X half DHH(Saddlebred X Hackney)

This year at the 2008 Arabian Nationals for the first time in 30 years they had a work-off between 3 supremely talented individuals and Adams Fire was the unanimous champion. What a work-off is is when select athletes are so beyond everybody else, that the rest of the competitors are asked to stand out of the way, so the judges can only concentrate on what is obviously the best against a standard. Normally judges can look at a dozen individuals and chose Champion and Reserve, but in this case the rest of the field didn't even come close to the best. That folks is a competition, with a standard of excellence, and the Champion is undisputable.

I am breathless. That horse was amazing and never broke stride, after him then the judging started and I would have liked to see more of them to see how they judged that. These horses are trained to the 10th degree and my hats off to them. In the years I showed our horses couldn't even compete in a pleasure class now, How far the training and quality of horses have changed. Then again we weren't working with little hottie half Hackney horses. LOL

Madame Col.
Where are you at? I just tried calling you. One of the greatest crosses in Arabian history was the NSH, but as magnificent as they have been, this new 1/2 cross with the Dutch Harness horse, which has Hackney as well as Saddle bred in their pedigree, is truly kick ass. I kept watching the horses back end to see when it started doing something different then the front end, and it never did. Just drove continuously under and forward.
Do you want to know what a regretted decision is? I don't know if you recall me telling you when I first met you, that I almost went to put horses under saddle in 2000 for someone in Tenn., but instead took the gig training the NSH liberty act. Do you know who that person was? Joel Keisner, the guy in this video and picture who trained and and rode Adams Fire, to a unanimous Championship in 2008. Boy was that a suck, blunder decision I made, choosing to spend 2 years with the Red Baron.
I get ill thinking Adams Fire may have been one of 13, 3 year olds waiting for me to throw a leg over him. I had the winning lottery ticket and I lost the damn thing. Shit. LOL
