A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.
I have received a number of email inquires about the elephant named Tumai. I recall him living at a Florida zoo, but not much else. Does anybody know any more about his history or where he is or isn't.

The only Too-mai I know of was a bull that went from San Diego-WAP ('75-'81) to Ringling/Gary Jacobson and died at L.A. zoo in 1986

Was Too-mai an African bull? This elephant Tumai was an African bull owned by an "elephant consultant" and apparently died 7/19/84 at a zoo in Florida.

The Too-mai I spoke of was an Asian. Didn't know about an African.
